Presentation of the Inokim Light electric scooter

Launched in 2009, Inokim Light is a lightweight and foldable electric scooter produced by the manufacturer MyWay. Renowned for its robust models, this manufacturer has become one of the world references in the electric micro-mobility sector. Moreover, MyWay constantly works to improve its technology and devotes more than 30% of its profits to research and development!

The Light range includes two models: the Inokim Light Hero (mid-range) and the Inokim Light Super (high-end). Both models use the same engine.

However, the Inokim Light Super has a reinforced structure and displays greater autonomy. In addition to the “Light” range, Myway markets three other series of Inokim electric scooters: OX, Quick, and Mini. In this test, we will focus particularly on the Inokim Light Hero.

Design and structure and the Inokim Light

At first glance, the Inokim Light inspires confidence with its compact design and robust structure. The proportions and shape have been designed to lower its center of gravity to make it even more stable on the road.

The frame is made of 6061 T6 aluminum alloys, which gives it great strength and excellent resistance against corrosion. In addition, it is covered with a non-slip coating to prevent skidding.

The Inokim Light is equipped with an LED lighting system that includes a front light and a rear light. The handlebars are telescopic. It is height adjustable according to the user's height. The handles are comfortable and fold easily thanks to a system of threaded locking rings.

On the handlebars, there is a multifunctional LCD console which displays all the road information and the basic functions of the scooter:

  • The settings.
  • The start-up.
  • The distance traveled (daily and total).
  • The battery charge level.
  • The selected speed mode.
  • Real-time speed.
  • Management of front and rear lighting.

The folding system is easy to handle thanks to a double safety mechanism (patented). It allows you to fold the scooter easily in three movements and in less than 5 seconds.

The dimensions of the Inokim Light are 96 x 18 x 37 cm in the folded position and 106 x 110 x 47 cm in the unfolded position.

The scooter offers a good compromise between lightness and solidity. She weighs only 13 kg. At less than €1000, it offers good value for money.

Engine and acceleration of the Inokim Light Super

The Inokim Light Super scooter is powered by a synchronous electric motor (brushless or brushless) developed in-house by the brand's engineers. Its supply voltage is 36 V and its nominal power is 350 W.

Integrated into the rear wheel, it is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 10.4 Ah and a range of 30 km. The engine is equipped with a kinetic energy recovery system which recovers a large part of the energy generated during braking. This energy is then stored in the battery, thus boosting the autonomy of the scooter.

The Inokim Light comes with an external charger that can plug into a household outlet. It still takes 4 to 5 hours for the battery to fully charge!

Powerful and above all torquey, the engine offers a traction capacity of 120 kg. Theoretically, it is designed to drive the scooter at a maximum speed of 35 km/h.

The good news is that Inokim gives you the option to select the top speed of the scooter in a range between 6 and 30 km. It also offers 3 modes allowing you to choose the maximum speed depending on the road conditions:

  • speed mode 1: At full throttle, the top speed is less than 10 km/h.
  • speed mode 2: At full throttle, the maximum speed is 70% of the top speed defined in the scooter settings. For example, if the chosen top speed is 20 km/h, by selecting mode 2, you will drive at a maximum speed of 14 km/h (20x70%).
  • speed mode 3: At full throttle, the scooter travels at 100% of the pre-configured top speed (up to 35 km/h).

For general safety reasons, the engine can only start when both wheels are moving. To start, you must press the “Power” button and use your foot to move the scooter slightly forward.

To accelerate, simply press the thumb throttle, located just below the LCD console. Note that the Inokim Light is also equipped with cruise control. However, this function must first be activated from the LCD console. To deactivate it, simply press the brake handle or the thumb accelerator.

Wheels and braking system of the Inokim Light

The Inokim Light is equipped with8.5 inch inflatable (tube) tiresmaking it easy to climb onto sidewalks. This design also allows you to drive on any type of road surface while ensuring good stability on the road.

The inflation pressure recommended by the manufacturer is 3.0 bars on each wheel. The scooter is equipped with a magnetic braking system at the front and a drum braking system at the rear.
